Welcome to the 62EX AFSC discussion blog. The purpose of this blog is to foster discussion between future AF officers interested in this career feild and current officers in 62EX. The views expressed in this blog are solely the opinions of the individual authors and not of the USAF nor the DoD. There are six different kinds of Developmental Engineers (Aero, Astro, EE, Mech Eng, Project, and Computer Systems), this blog has officers representing each of those with posts pertinent to each.

How hard is it to switch to career broaden into Maintenance if I don't like being an Engineer? I'm a ME undergrad, but I am unsure whether I really want to be an engineer b/c I really enjoy the leadership opportunities.

From my personal experience Steve, it's easier to go the other way around (from ops job to engineering). You'll also have invaluable ops experience you can bring to your engineering job. Either way, you shoudl do the switch as an LT or junior Capt. It gets tougher as you get more senior. Any of you other younger admins have any experience with this.
