Welcome to the 62EX AFSC discussion blog. The purpose of this blog is to foster discussion between future AF officers interested in this career feild and current officers in 62EX. The views expressed in this blog are solely the opinions of the individual authors and not of the USAF nor the DoD. There are six different kinds of Developmental Engineers (Aero, Astro, EE, Mech Eng, Project, and Computer Systems), this blog has officers representing each of those with posts pertinent to each.

The SE Working Group is currently debating if they'll let SE majors qualify for the specific AFSCs (Aero Engr, Mech Engr, etc.).
Currently, you are qualified for the Project Engineer AFSC. The SEWG will decide by the end of the week & we'll post the results for whether or not you can choose the specific engr AFSCs.
If they will allow you to, then, yes, you can put down Project Engineer & Aero Engineer as two separate choices.
Please contact Capt Cory Cooper at 333-3545 for updates on specific information on the SE degree & which AFSCs you qualify for.
SE Aeros - yes, you can choose Aero engineering & Project engineering.
All other SE majors, please wait for further word &/or call Capt Cory Cooper at 333-3545.
SEs in the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering:
The DFEC position is that a cadet must have a degree in electrical or computer engineering to earn the 62E1E or 62E1C AFSCs, respectively. Cadets who complete a systems engineering major with a track through DFEC are not eligible for these AFSCs.
Please contact Lt Col Toussaint at 3-4210 if you have any questions.
I need to correct what I said above. SE-Mechs are definitely qualified for the G shred, but may not be qualified for the H shred (Mechanical Engr). Again, see your advisor for details. We are currently discussing this in the Mech Dept (DFEM).
