Welcome to the 62EX AFSC discussion blog. The purpose of this blog is to foster discussion between future AF officers interested in this career feild and current officers in 62EX. The views expressed in this blog are solely the opinions of the individual authors and not of the USAF nor the DoD. There are six different kinds of Developmental Engineers (Aero, Astro, EE, Mech Eng, Project, and Computer Systems), this blog has officers representing each of those with posts pertinent to each.

Even though I am an astro engineer, I worked in an aero engineering job. The Air Force considers astro and aero to be interchangeable. My first assignment was in a flight test organization at Eglin Air Force Base called the AF SEEK EAGLE OFFICE. It was a great opportunity to actually do engineering & analysis. The best part about it was actually working with the test pilots & seeing how we ensure that they can do their job safely through engineering analysis & flight test.
Good point Astro Engineer. I started my AF life as an Astro Engineer "flying" comm satellites in the 3SOPS at Schriever AFB (then Falcon). Since then, I've also been both an Aero and a Mech Engr at Wright-Patt. The academic degree opens doors, but the differeces between Aero/Astro/Mech aren't as clearly defined in the AF as it is in the academic world.
